A student-run organization of Harvard College, Harvard China Care brings together a team of dedicated students determined to make positive contributions to the lives of China's special-needs orphans.
Throughout the year we fundraise for surgeries, adoptions, and renovations, and every summer our volunteers travel to China to live and work in orphanages. Here at home, we also hope to build a bond between adopted children and their birth country, as well as foster a sense of community among families.
At Harvard China Care, we have one simple mission: to improve the lives of orphans in China. We were founded just six years ago—and the journey has been an enriching one for all involved: Since the fall of 2003, HCC has sent over forty volunteers to China’s orphanages, raised more than $150,000 to fund surgeries and cover operational costs, and helped build a school for visually impaired orphans. Back on campus, we have grown from a handful of students hovered around a breakfast table, to a large organization that has overseen more than 50 Dumplings playgroups and successfully fostered over 40 mentor-mentee relationships. Our work has already had a life-altering impact for thousands of children throughout China; and we continue to raise much-needed funds to enable us to continue this work for thousands more.
Whether you're a student, parent, or child, we'd love to see you join us!
