Compton Cup Information
The Harvard men's heavyweight crew looks to defend the Compton cup against a very strong Princeton Crew this saturday morning. This looks to be a showdown between two very talented crews. The racing will begin on the Charles with the 2nd Freshman at 7:12, through the Varsity race at 8:48.
This will be the 67th row for the Compton Trophy, a series in which Harvard holds a commanding 53-13-1 lead over Princeton and MIT. In last year's race, the Crimson 1V pulled ahead quickly with a clean and strong start. Rowing at 36-strokes-per-minute through the body of the race, Harvard expanded its lead to five lengths before reaching the finish line in 5:55.1, with Princeton trailing in 6:08.9 and MIT in 6:52.9.

Crimson retains Stein Cup
The Harvard varsity heavyweight crew fought off an aggressive, high stroking Brown varsity to win it's first race of the season by nine seconds in blustery conditions on the Seekonk River on Saturday. The win was the fourth straight in the Stein Trophy competition for the Crimson, which bested the Bears last season by an eleven-second margin.
Harvard lead by just a couple of seats early in the race and by a liitle over one length at the half way mark. they then extended its lead over Brown to 9 seconds over the last half of the race.
The second varsity jumped out to an early lead of almost one length over its Brown counterparts and the slowly lengthened its lead to almost two lengths at the finish. After the first 500 meters the real race developed between the Brown seond varsity and Harvard's third crew, an added starter in the race. Those two crews raced virtually even for most of the race until the Harvard 3V edged out to a lead approaching the last 500 meters.
The Harvard freshman won their inaugural race over Brown by 6 seconds. The crew took a one length lead early in the race and then gradually increased it over the remainder of the race.
Brown's second freshmen won a closely contested race with a combination of harvard second freshmen and 4th varsity oarsmen.

On The Water
After a long and grueling winter that froze all of New England, we finally made it back out on the water. Though the coaches only mananged to clear the ice from Newell to Cambridge Boat Club, the crews were still able to get out for a few refreshing strokes. Let the spring begin!

Crash-B's
Crash-B's came and went with snow still on the ground and the river frozen. A few guys headed over to the Reggie Lewis Indoor Track to test their speed. Results |

Tail of the Charles
According to my sources, it is now officially the Men's Foot of the Charles. Nevertheless, there good weather for the Tail unlike the epic conditions of last year. The Varsity squad, racing in 4+s, garned the 2 top spots. The Freshmen finished a close second to Brown in their race. |

Head of The Charles
Once again, it was a great day for rowing. The Varsity finished 4th overall, nipping at the heels of the US National Team, and 1st in the collegiate division. The JV racing as a sophomore boat went well. The freshman regained the youth 8+ title, making it the 4th victory in the youth 8+ in the past 5 years. For full results look at the results page or the
